Muscle Burns Fat

Muscle is highly active even while resting. According to the University of Michigan Health System: "A pound of muscle burns 30-50 calories per day just to maintain itself. Add three pounds of muscle and burn 630 to 1,050 extra calories per week."
Have you ever noticed that overweight people tend to stay overweight, while thin people tend to stay thin? One reason this is true is because of one's fat-cell to muscle-cell ratio. Simply stated, overweight people have proportionately more fat cells than thin people do, with receptor sites to soak up energy (from calories) for storage. Thin people, on the other hand, have proportionately more muscle cells to receive energy for storage.
Resistance training can increase one's muscle-cell to fat-cell ratio. Proper weight training techniques, muscle isolation, and varying repetition and intensity schemes will allow the natural processes of your body to burn fat for energy, naturally, 24-7.
No unnecessary fad diets, pills, supplements, or gizmos and gadgets. I encourage only sound nutrition and exercise practices, backed by current medical research and scientific studies.
