Safest Tan is On It's Way

Scientists are on the verge of introducing a compound that stimulates our skin's own melanin production to offer both a natural tan and sun protection at the same time. Great news for those of us who enjoy a "healthy glow."
Both sunbathing and tanning beds damage our skin and cause premature aging, wrinkles, and skin cancer. Sunless tanning creams are safe, yet come in odd shades of orange or brown, are difficult to apply, and offer no sun protection.
"What is exciting to us as scientists and physicians is the possibility of reducing skin cancer by making skin more impervious to UV damage. The cosmetic effect does have a lot of people excited and that's great too. If this keeps even one person from going to a tanning bed and increasing their risk for skin cancer, then it will serve its purpose."
Don't forget to get your 10 minutes of sunlight each day for a healthy dose of vitamin D.
