High Bread Consumption Linked to Kidney Cancer

Breads, refined cereals, and pastas are high carbohydrate, calorie dense, foods.  Now, the International Journal of Cancer is giving us yet another reason to think in terms of moderation when consuming such foods.

A recent study of more than 2300 Italians found a significant link between high bread consumption and renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common type of kidney cancer.

Comparing the highest with the lowest intakes, consumption of bread increased the risk of RCC by 94 percent, pasta and rice by 29 percent, and milk and yogurt by 27 percent...

...Conversely, high intake of poultry, processed meat, and vegetables appeared to reduce the risk by 26 percent, 36 percent, and 35 percent, respectively.
