Resist the "Girly-Man" Trend
Obesity, age, environmental factors, smoking, a lack of exercise, and an increase in the usage of cell phones may be a few of the reasons for the declining state of manliness amongst American men.
New evidence shows a gradual decline of testosterone amongst American men over the last 17 years. Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and plays an important role in maintaining bone and muscle mass. Lowered testosterone is linked to lowered libido and even diabetes.
Over a span of the last 20 years, there has been about a 15-percent decrease between different groups of same-aged people, according to lead author Thomas G. Travison, Ph.D.
The best, most direct, and healthiest way to combat this is through high intensity exercise. Intense exercise naturally boosts the body's DHEA production and creates healthy hormone levels in both men and women.
When exercising at 80% maximal heart rate, DHEA increased 1.4 times and while exercising at maximal heart rate the DHEA increased 4 times their original concentrations.
DHEA is a steroid hormone made in the adrenal glands that acts much like testosterone. It is considered the "mother hormone" and is the precursor to testosterone, estrogen, and other hormones. A few benefits of increasing your body's DHEA production are better sex, improved fat metabolism, increase in lean muscle mass, and an improved immune system.
