The Miracle of Sunshine

I've been hearing a lot about the health benefits of vitamin D.  Studies and research are explaining how it prevents cancer, osteoporosis, hypertension, diabetes...the list goes on.
Two new vitamin D studies using a sophisticated form of analysis called meta-analysis, in which data from multiple reports is combined, have revealed new prescriptions for possibly preventing up to half of the cases of breast cancer and two-thirds of the cases of colorectal cancer in the United States.
Bill Sardi has written a great article uncovering the truth about vitamin D, please take the time to read it.  Bill sums it up this way:
Humanity is on the verge of a gigantic leap forward in health promotion with rapid-fire discoveries that a single vitamin pill may vanquish cancer and heart disease, the two leading causes of mortality in the U.S., as well as quell autoimmune disease (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus), diminish the occurrence of diabetes, reduce obesity, and effectively treat multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia and high blood pressure, plus conquer the common cold and even defeat tuberculosis, an infectious lung disease that affects one-third of the people of the world...

...most physicians, pharmacists and dietitians have been incorrectly trained to warn the public away from higher doses of vitamin D.
In reality, the National Academy of Sciences says 2000 IU is safe and toxicity begins at 10,000 IU.
Increase your vitamin D through foods, sunlight (in moderation), and supplementation.
