The Biggest Losers

Ever notice how men seem to drop weight quicker and easier than ladies? Well it's true, and it's because men have several advantages over women when it comes to weight loss.
First of all, according to nutritionist Cynthia Sass, RD and coauthor of Your Diet Is Driving Me Crazy, men's bigger muscle mass helps them burn 30% more calories than women. Fair? Maybe not, but knowledge is power, so let's see what else we can learn from them.
A man's food craving tends to be steak or meat, rather than fattening chocolate - as preferred by women. This meat craving is an excellent source of protein that keeps you anabolic, satiated, and energized. While chocolate is high in sugar, fat, empty calories and seems to go directly to the hips and thighs, aye?
A few other exciting points are; drop the instant perfection expectations and strive for 80% success in diet and exercise, make everyday tasks fitness opportunities by dancing while cleaning your house, squeezing your butt muscles while seated at work, and washing the car (again), and my favorite:
He goes for weights with muscle...The bottom line is this, muscle is muscle and muscle burns fat. You have the tools for success, so let's get movin'.
..."When a guy goes to the gym, he'll usually pick an exercise that allows him to use the most impressive-looking weights," says Lou Schuler, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and author of The New Rules of Lifting.
The result: muscle building in less time, working a range of muscles at once instead of one in isolation. "A woman, on the other hand, will go for light dumbbells and do an exercise that allows her to use perfect form--but will do the least amount of good."
..."All those little exercises are like Chinese water torture for your muscles: a little drip here, a little drip there. You think if you do them enough then these nice, streamlined muscles will show up, but no, they won't." So, stop wasting your time, and do what the Y chromosome folks do:
Drop the "Barbie" weights
If you're doing two sets of 12 or 15 reps, your weights are probably too light, says Schuler. Graduate to the black weights--the ones made of real iron--and move toward higher poundage that makes you strain to do 8 to 10, says Schuler.
