Chocolate vs. Tea...How Dare Thee!
You've heard the absurdities of how great chocolate for us, but why go so far as to compare this fattening indulgence to the incredible health benefits of drinking tea?
First of all, upon taking a closer look you will see that it is not chocolate that promotes health, yet an isolated ingredient (pure cocoa) that has the ability to promote health. The other ingredients in chocolate (sugar, corn syrup, fat, hydrogenated oils, and who knows what else???) will negate any purported health effects as they increase fat storage, promote obesity, and a host of other ailments.
Researchers claim to show a lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients and reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Shoot, these ailments are merely symptoms of a larger disease that needs to be taken care of and I must also point out that the group of test subjects were small in number - hardly what I would deem as substantial evidence.
Terrific tea, on the other hand, reduces the stress hormone cortisol to help you relax better, protects against heart disease, cancer, and excessive tooth plaque. This powerful beverage also burns body fat, reduces inflammation, skin damage, scarring, and wrinkles. What's astonishing is green tea's ability to repair cell damage and it's ingredients are considered to be anti-tumor and anti-cancer agents.
