Statin Drugs May Cause Cancer
New research out of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston Massachusetts suggests an increased risk of cancer due to the use of cholesterol lowering statin drugs.
This study bugs me because the scientists are claiming no correlation between the drug's use and liver or muscle irritation. But, it is well known that these drugs have serious side effects including liver and muscle irritation, decreased cognitive ability and memory, depression, irritability, pain, peripheral neuropathy (tingling, numbness, or pain), and problems with sleep, sex, fatigue, and dizziness. But at least they admit a problem with the drugs;
Dove told Ivanhoe, "If there is concern the patient and the physician need to evaluate the need for the statin drug case by case. If somebody doesn't have a good indication to be on a stain to begin with, you may want to think about the cancer risk in that case...I see this as a red flag. This study raises our awarness that any drug does not effect only the body system it targets, yet it effects the entire body and all it's organ systems (in adverse ways for the most part) and may damage cells; thus leading to cancer. To top it off, these drugs are only a temporary fix to the symptoms of a serious underlying problem, or disease, of the body.
..."Don't panic at this point if you're on a statin. It's not proven that it will cause cancer, it's just a signal, and we need to see where to go from here," Dr. Dove said.
The best advice here is to allow your body to rid itself of excess cholesterol and start healing through eating high fiber foods from this list at MayoClinic.com and partake in daily exercise. Oh,...and "don't do drugs!"
