Obesity Leads to Birth Defects

An overwhelming trend in science is proving the old adage, "you are what you eat," to be true.  But did you know that this also applies to your baby while in utero?  This is because an unborn child will suffer nutritional deficiencies, imposed upon them from processed foods mom is eating while pregnant, and will not develop properly because of it.

A recent study took this a bit farther and determined there is a definitive link between obesity and birth defects.

"Our study supports previous evidence, as well as provides new evidence, for the associations between maternal obesity and particular categories of birth defects," the study authors wrote. The birth defects linked to obese moms included Spina Bifida, heart malformations, defects of the anal opening and penis, diaphragmatic hernia, small or missing limbs, and intestines protruding through the naval...

..."This is a huge medical problem that we're seeing, and it's not going away; it's only getting worse," Dr. Atlas said. Overweight and obese mothers have become part of the norm in his practice, he explained. Women in these categories are at increased risk of several complications, including diabetes and unplanned Caesarian sections.
One theory is that this is caused by medical problems such as diabetes.  I see that nutritional deficiencies, prescription and over-the-counter drug usage, and elevated levels of toxins within fat cells are contributing factors of developmental deficiencies of a fetus as well.

And remember; a healthy mom leads to a healthy baby.
