Where in the World Did Your Produce Come From?

Soon you will be able to trace your produce's harvest information, including the country, name and location of the farm, the plot, and how many miles your produce traveled to get to you.  This will be made possible with the "electronic produce tracking system" which supplies each piece of produce with it's own 24 digit number to which you enter into their website to uncover said information.

Seems a bit "over-the-top," and a little too much information for most people.  Though it may give people the perception that the fruits and veggies are safer to consume as companies disclose more information about it.
"People want to know where the products came from and who grows them and how they are getting from point A to point B," said Marty Ordman, vice president of marketing and communications for Dole Food Company. "Our goal is to get as much of that information out to consumers so they have a confidence level and we feel good about our processes and our quality controls."
I find this concept interesting and I'm quite anxious to check out my produce's origin when the time comes.
