Back From Mass.
Well it's back to the old grindstone.
I left for my parents' dairy farm in Upstate NY last Friday morning to visit family and friends. But, the highlight of my vacation was my grandmother's 80th birthday party in Lakeville, Massachusetts.
I was born in New Bedford, Ma. and lived there until I was 11. You can imagine how great it was to go back and enjoy my old stomping grounds and see the sites.
Here's a few pics.,
This is where to find the best darn (whole belly) fried clams:

My great, great, great grandfather's (Zimri Robinson) lighthouse at Buzzards Bay:

On our way out to sea...

The catch of the day was sand sharks:

And cooling off at Horseneck Beach, just as I remember from my childhood:

Zimri Robinson , the keeper of Bird Island Light and Ned's Point Light, is my great grandfather. Would love to make a connection!

My paternal grandmother was Alice Robinson, one of Zimri's four children: Alice, Millie, George, and Jerry. Zimri's wife was Angelina Morse. Zimri (and therefore you and I and probably a zillion others!) was a direct descendent of John Robinson, pastor to the Mayflower Pilgrims and his son, my favorite ancestor, Isaac Robinson. (Isaac reportedly became fed up with Calvinist doctrine and went to Hyannis and opend a bar... the history books say "tavern", but we know what that really means!)
There is a wonderful web site on John Robinson... google in Zimri Robinson and you'll find that site and a lot of information about his years as a light house keeper. And, that is how I found you!!
Let me hear more!!
