Jack LaLanne - An Inspiration to All of Us

Jack LaLanne is a hero to all of us.  At 92 years of age, his discipline, drive, and dignity shine through as he leads by example every day of his life.  Jen Murphy, of The Wall Street Journal Online, wrote this fine story of this amazing natural athlete and coach.

His philosophies of exercise may be "old school," but they are the best, most widely used rules to getting and staying fit.  Such as the importance of changing your routine up once in a while.

Mr. LaLanne was one of the first proponents of switching-up routines to keep muscles challenged. A change can be as simple as varying the intensity or the amount of repetitions or as dramatic as creating an entirely fresh routine of new exercises. He changes his program every 30 days -- both strength and cardio.
He encourages us to not let work or travel interfere with exercise and to not use them as excuses to skip exercise.  As a matter of fact, I use many unconventional objects such as chairs, tables, and stairs to get my clients fit and healthy.
Travel does not deter Mr. LaLanne. Most hotels have gyms and if he can't find one he improvises using a towel for resistance or a chair or broomstick to perform exercises, and doing sit-ups and push-ups.

"If you exercise for 25 to 30 minutes four to five days a week you can do a lot. It's your health account. The more you put in the more you'll be able to take out.

How's your health account these days?

Of course Jack eats only natural whole foods; no processed or chemically altered poisonous food sources for this fine man.
"Everything nature's way....If man makes it, don't eat it....If it tastes good, spit it out....The food you eat today you're wearing tomorrow." He lives by all of them. "Before I eat something I ask 'What is it doing for me, the most important person on Earth?' "
He's also admitting what many health advocates ignore; the importance of enjoying a fine glass of wine.
"French people live the longest and they have wine with lunch and dinner every day," he says.
Cheers!
