And this guy thinks an exercise ball should support 350 pounds of benching mania. Where's the common sense?
Pete Royal says he was leaning back on the exercise ball and about to lift a pair of 75-pound dumbbells when the ball burst. Royal weighs 200 pounds. He says he needed five surgeries and couldn't use either arm for six months after the 2005 incident.
The defendant claims the "YMCA failed to maintain safe conditions in the gym. It also claims the manufacturers mislabeled the rubber ball as an “anti-burst” ball." So now he hangs around the "Y" and warns other gym members about these hazardous balls.
Seriously, anyone lifting that kind of poundages should not be bouncing around on a stability ball. Get yourself a sturdy exercise bench and then go heavy - or go home.
