What You Eat After Your Workout Will Make or Break Your Efforts

A new post at Conditioning Research sites this new research on how to keep your fat burning furnaces (muscles) burning fat - longer - after your workout.

Scientists concluded that you should not eat a carbohydrate rich meal after exercising because (if you do) you will shut off your body's fat burning mechanism that you initiated through the workout in the first place.

Art De Vany explains that it's much more than just fat burning you are shutting down by ingesting high carb. meals and shakes desserts post workout.  But, you also dampen your insulin sensitivity and blunt favorable hormone output that would otherwise assist in muscle building and cardiovascular improvements.

Don't worry so much about replenishing your glycogen stores (as those glossy magazines insist) immediately after a workout.  Your body is highly adaptive and, unless you're running marathons, you will feel energized and strong by ingesting a meal high in protein post workout and then a full meal with protein, carbs., and fat a bit later on.

Beware, those glossy magazines are in business because of the supplement companies that support them and they must peddle endorse their shakes wherever possible - hence all the articles about meal replacements.
