This is interesting. A new study is showing a clear connection between stomach fat and an increase in dementia.
Middle-aged people with excess visceral fat - usually apparent in the thick waist or pot belly of an apple-shaped body - are nearly three times more likely to suffer from dementia in their 70s and 80s than people with little to no belly fat, according to a study of Kaiser Permanente patients...
Knowing that fat is metabolically active and it stores toxins is a great reason to lose weight. Who would want to carry around poisonous toxins within their body if there was a way to limit it? Here we see that those toxins make their way to the brain:
..the fat is metabolically active and doctors think it may release toxins associated with atherosclerosis or plaque build-up in the brain that is apparent in people with Alzheimer's disease, Whitmer said.

Even thin people are at risk if they have a large pot belly.

...In the study, patients who were of average weight but in the category with the most visceral fat were 89 percent more likely to develop dementia than people of average weight with little or no belly fat.
I believe that eating poor food sources through the years also contributes to this and many other diseases. Eating nutrient void foods, poisonous chemicals, and the use of toxic preservatives and storage containers all play a role in disease.

Plus, constantly bombarding our blood with sugars and carbohydrates releases too much insulin, causing insulin resistance, cell damage, and poor nutrient absorption. So, wouldn't this be a significant contribution to dementia as well?

Whether you are considered overweight or skinny, your best bet is to workout with weights to gain muscle and burn fat, Eat plenty of whole foods sources of protein, fats, fruits and vegetables, and limit your intake of processed foods.
