Here's some food for thought;

On the one hand, we have a new study which is pointing to overeating as the cause of metabolic syndrome(rather than fatness). Here is Dr. Unger, who has investigated diabetes, obesity and insulin resistance for more than 50 years, on the subject. "People who are obese or overweight are on the road to developing metabolic syndrome unless they stop overeating. Sooner or later, it will happen."

I totally agree, it's the high carb. diets that contribute to cell damage, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, and heart disease and not the body fat itself.

  

What to do about this?

Check out intermittent fasting and calorie restriction, where you control your dietary intake, rather than being a slave to big industry and food processors.

And if that is not bad enough, we now know that those who are fat tend to get fatter (unless you stop and do something about it).
The extra fat we carry around our middle could be making us hungrier, so we eat more, which in turn leads to even more belly fat. Dr. Yaiping Yang and his colleagues at the Lawson Health Research Institute affiliated with The University of Western Ontario found abdominal fat tissue can reproduce a hormone that stimulates fat cell production. The researchers hope this discovery will change in the way we think about and treat abdominal obesity.
