Bye Bye Beer Belly

Since the holidays are upon us, I figured it was about time to talk about alcohol, it's effects, and how to choose your best options.

Alcohol is notorious for weight gain and hard beer belly's, but don't worry, there's plenty of room for a drink or two a few times a week. Here is a short podcast from HealthCastle.com for your listening pleasure.

"A lot of people think it's just the calories but it has a lot to do with how alcohol affects your hormonal balance and your liver. Your liver has a lot to do with processing and disposing of excess hormones and cholesterol...Your liver is also responsible for fat metabolism so when it's bogged down with all the toxins, it can't do one of its job at getting rid of fat."

When picking your poison, choose lower calorie beers, wine, or champagne. Mixed drinks are evil because they are typically made with high fructose corn syrup mixers and other fattening food products that you can do without.

Always drink water throughout the evening so you aren't tempted to use alcohol to quench your thirst, for that will only leave you drunk and fat.

Happy Holidays and Cheers to All!

    Hi Sheryl,

Good article! I enjoy a glass of red wine each nignt but have tapered it to 1 or 2 times a week. Wine has value because it also increases your HDL. This was a very good article because it will help to loose that stubborn last little bit of fat in an endless effort to get a six pack.
