You Got Something To Say To Me Boy?
Excellent! This is just too good not to repost.
In response to yesterday's post, a good friend had some mainstream garbage things to say via my facebook account:
"Medically speaking cutting out carb's will do the body more harm then good--the number one fuel the body craves is carb's and without it everything will shut down and the body goes into ketosis and start using fuel from proteins and fats that will further damage the body---it is just another attempt to tax and ban carb's."
Ha! Wrong.
My response is as follows; "What? You must be joking,"medically speaking?" ..., you are not a doctor, nor do I think you studied endocrinology, gastroenterology, metabolism, and pharmacology in depth (I did, under a double phd) and what you are saying is that through 2....5 million yrs of evolution everything in our bodies was "shut down?" New evidence shows primitive man lived healthy, robust lives well into their 60's without Big Pharma. Our genes are programmed to use fat as our number one fuel, carbs promote elevated cholesterol, hypertension, cancer, diabetes, joint disorders, depression, and obesity - all side effects of the food guide pyramid. Look around, our gov. is doing a darn good job keeping America sick and reliant on Big Pharma and Big Agra. The gov. will tax anything posssible and taxing sugar will only generate new money, not curtail consumption. AND if you read the article and looked into it further you'd see the folks supporting low carb, Paleo type diets are anti-government. Our body's only "crave" carbs if you rely on the quick fix of sugar - oats, bread, cereal, pasta, and any grain are all damaging. Since when did the gov. decide to "ban carbs?" Their pyramid reflects a very high carb consumption as the foundation of Americans' diets...Could you define how burning fats and protein is damaging? I don't get that. Then their is the obvious, I eat Paleo (only whole foods, meats, nuts, fruit, berries, no processed crap, etc) and am in great shape...how is your health, Al?? When you are ready, I can give you some things to read."
Touche'?
Ketones are not bad, either. On the contrary, this form of diet/nutrition has been medically proven to curtail disease for centuries.
